Michael Hills will not choose his mount in the Stan James 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday until he has worked both Red Clubs and Killybegs this morning. His twin, Richard, will ride whichever colt he rejects.
"There's not much between them, but I'm going to see how they have come out of their races," the jockey said yesterday. "That could sway me. Both won their trials very well. Red Clubs probably blew a little bit more than Killybegs, but Killybegs has improved a lot from two to three. Red Clubs has been in a few battles, and that can help in the Guineas."
His father, Barry, saddles a third runner who could yet prove best of all. Olympian Odyssey, so unlucky on his reappearance, will again be ridden by Jamie Spencer.
