Luke Adamson is set to give Salford a boost by signing on for another three years.
The consistent form of the 21-year-old second-rower has stirred interest at other clubs. "We are very close to striking a new deal and I want to stay," Adamson said.
His decision comes at a time of continuing uncertainty over the future of Salford's other outstanding young player, Richie Myler. The scrum-half's agent, Martin Offiah, says that he has rejected an improved contract, but his coach, Shaun McRae, says he wants to hear that from the player.
Both Myler and Adamson are in the squad to play Huddersfield tonight. Queensland's Greg Inglis has been cleared of a suspected broken jaw from a Trent Barrett tackle in the State of Origin match on Wednesday. Barrett was yesterday handed a two-match suspension for the tackle.
