Daniel Anderson begins his British coaching career tonight with an encounter with a familiar face. Anderson, taking charge of St Helens for the first time following the sacking of Ian Millward, was an assistant coach at Parramatta alongside Tony Smith, now head coach at Leeds. "We worked very closely together,'' Smith said. "To have done what he has done since is quite an achievement.''

Smith has Keith Senior and Rob Burrow fit again, while Anderson must find a replacement for the injured full-back Paul Wellens.

Smith's predecessor as Leeds coach, Daryl Powell, has been appointed assistant coach of their rugby union offshoot, Leeds Tykes.

Bradford's coach, Brian Noble, has agreed a two-year contract extension.
