Ankle injury may force Murrell out of Hull KR's semi-final

Hull KR's Challenge Cup semi-final preparations suffered a setback when their first-choice stand-off, Scott Murrell, limped out of training yesterday.

The ex-Leeds player damaged an ankle and is a major doubt for tomorrow's match against St Helens. "It doesn't look good," admitted his coach, Justin Morgan. "We will give him until Saturday to prove himself."

Morgan will move Gareth Morton or Tommy Gallagher to stand-off if Murrell does not recover in time.

Danny McGuire has been named in Leeds' squad for the second semi-final against Huddersfield on Sunday, despite a shin injury that forced him out of last weekend's defeat by Saints. McGuire could also be given until shortly before the game for a decision to be made. The Rhinos' coach, Tony Smith, has added Lee Smith, Ian Kirke and Mark O'Neill to last week's squad, with Smith likely to return at full-back after being dropped against Saints.

Wakefield say that they are confident that Tevita Latu will be able to join their fight against relegation, despite reports in Australia that a warrant could be issued for his arrest if he fails to report for community service on Wednesday.

The former Cronulla hooker was recently convicted of breaking a woman's jaw, but this week signed with the Wildcats for the rest of the season.

The ex-Hull captain Jason Smith, now at Canberra, has signed to play for North Queensland next season.
