Arnold signs on to kick-start the Halifax renaissance

Danny Arnold, a regular in the Salford team that won promotion to Super League this year, has signed for relegated Halifax.

Arnold, whose previous clubs include St Helens and Huddersfield, has signed a one year deal at The Shay, and the club's football manager, Paul Dixon, said: "Danny is a proven and prolific try-scorer and adds a wealth of experience to the outside backs."

London Skolars, who finished bottom of National League Two in their inaugural season, have signed three overseas players for next year - the former Newcastle Knights utility back, Glen O'Davis, brother of the Test full-back, Robbie, as well as his former Brisbane Easts team-mate, Peter Hannan. The Skolars have also signed the New Zealand-born John Rua, who has played for the Cook Islands.

Dynamo Moscow, will get their first taste of the game's oldest competition when they play in the second round of the Powergen Challenge Cup tomorrow at the Bradford club, Bankfoot, while tomorrow also sees the RAF at home to the St Helens side, Thatto Heath.

The other ties, all today, include the Royal Navy's visit to East Hull. The Cup will be on display at Eccles and Salford Juniors' tie against Castleford Panthers, while the pick of the contests could be Siddal's trip to Leigh Miners.
