Ambitious Barrow have signed Jamie Rooney on loan from Wakefield for the rest of the season and he will make his debut for them against Toulouse tonight.

"He's a class act and has a proven record," said the Championship club's chairman, Des Johnston, who is also pursuing Warrington's Lee Briers, out of contract at Bradford at the end of this season.

St Helens' progress at the top of Super League could be disrupted over the next month by their hooker Keiron Cunningham's absence. He has had a minor knee operation in the hope of being fit for the Challenge Cup semi-final against Huddersfield next month.

Richie Myler, Salford's much sought after scrum-half, is again out of their team to face Saints tomorrow. Myler, the subject of an offer from Warrington, is struggling with a heel injury.
