The London Broncos have continued to expand the British contingent within the Australian-accented club by signing two young English props.

Jamie Fielden, the elder brother of Bradford's Stuart, has arrived from Doncaster, while Mark Cox, the former Great Britain Academy front-rower, has left Whitehaven to try his luck in the capital. Both are 24 and have signed two-year deals.

"I'm happy that they have asked for this opportunity and that we can provide it," said the Broncos coach, Tony Rea. "It continues to set a very good direction for the club."

London are hoping for their biggest crowd of the season for England A's match against New Zealand next Wednesday.

St Helens have signed Stuart Jones, the 21-year-old back-rower released by Wigan after six Super League appearances this year, and will give him his debut against the Kiwis tomorrow. It has been revealed that Sean Long played in the Grand Final with a small fracture in his jaw, but he still expects to be fit for the Kiwi Test series.

Two Leigh players have been suspended for a total of eight matches, for offences in the Northern Ford Premiership Grand Final. Andrew Isherwood, who is linked with Widnes, has been banned for five games for a deliberate attack to the head of Huddersfield's Rob Roberts, while Jon Roper has received a three match ban for a deliberate high tackle on Graeme Hallas.

The club's coach, Paul Terzis, will know tomorrow whether he will be staying with Leigh. After initially telling him that he would have no job if the club failed to win promotion, the Leigh directors will today discuss offering him a new contract.

"I have unfinished business at the club and goals I still want to achieve," said Terzis. The former Great Britain scrum-half, Bobbie Goulding, who is on a short-term contract, is unlikely to be at the club next season, however. "If we are in the NFP, we won't be able to afford him," said Terzis.
