A last-minute try by the Featherstone winger Adrian Flynn ended the Challenge Cup hopes of the French side Villeneuve. Flynn scored direct from a scrum with a diagonal run to settle a stormy game.

Featherstone led 15-6 at half-time through Ian Brown's try, five goals by Stuart Dickens and a drop goal by Carl Briggs. Frederic Banquet's try was the only response from the visitors.

Chris Molyneux's try and Dickens' sixth goal put Featherstone 21-6 up, but Villeneuve stormed back with tries from Laurent Carrasco, Jason Webber and David Despin. Briggs levelled with his second drop goal eight minutes from time before Flynn's late winner.

Elsewhere, Pia lost 28-18 to Hunslet to leave Union Treiziste Catalan, who won 38-4 at Gateshead, as the only French side through to the fourth round.

Meanwhile, St Helens have named a strong squad, with only the injured Kieron Cunningham and Paul Wellands missing for tonight's cross-code game against Sale.

The British Amateur Rugby League Association has voted by 24-10 to accept reunification with the Rugby Football League.
