Gouging ban may end Hock's season

Gareth Hock's season could be over, as he faces a gouging charge at today's disciplinary hearing.

The Wigan forward has been charged with a category E offence, which carries a four- to eight-match ban. He has also been charged with punching Warrington's Ben Harrison in the same incident.

Hock is just a few weeks into his comeback after a two-year suspension for using cocaine. He was left out of the line-up in the Challenge Cup final, but recalled for the Warrington game.

Wigan have had better news over Sam Tomkins, who has escaped with a caution after sliding in with his feet to try to prevent a try in the same match.

The Warrington captain, Adrian Morley, has had an operation to cure his bouts of double vision. Morley made a surprise comeback on Sunday but is now likely to miss another two matches.

Clint Newton and Ben Fisher could be playing their last game for Hull KR on Saturday as they vie with Castleford for a place in the play-offs. Newton is being released from his contract a year early so that he can take up an offer from Penrith in the NRL.

Wakefield have decided on their new coach and will make an announcement in the next few days. John Kear takes charge for the last time against Bradford on Friday night.

Greg Eden, the full-back or centre who made his debut for Castleford this season, is expected to join Huddersfield or Widnes.
