Leeds beat Huddersfield 31-24 to hold on to fifth place in Super League and their hopes of a late charge in the play-offs. The Giants led 16-12 at half-time, but were edged out by a second-half surge, with Ryan Hall among the Rhinos' try-scorers. The result means that Leeds play Hull on Sunday evening, with the losers going out of the play-offs.
Hull KR tied up the remaining play-off place, beating Castleford 26-24 on Saturday in a thriller. Cas, with 11 first-teamers missing, put in a mighty effort, only to be beaten by Sam Latus' second try of the match in the 72nd minute.
Warrington finished on top of the table for the first time since 1973 with a 34-12 win at Hull on Friday night. That result made Wigan's 42-10 victory over Crusaders academic as they had to settle for second place. Wakefield gave departing coach, John Kear, a fitting send-off with a 26-14 win over Bradford.
