Leeds have signed the tallest player in Super League, Wayne McDonald, to play in their pack next season. McDonald, previously with Wakefield and Hull, is leaving Saints after just one season, having failed to hold down a regular place in the side.
McDonald began his career in the city with Middleton, before playing for the Wakefield side that won promotion to Super League. At 6ft 7in, he will form a startling contrast at Leeds with the smallest player in Super League, the 5ft 4in scrum-half, Rob Burrow.
The Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford tomorrow is on its way to beating last year's record crowd of 58,000. Ticket sales have topped 52,000 and the attendance could go above 60,000 for the first time for the meeting of Bradford and Wigan.
