McGuire's deal ends fears of union move

"I'm a Leeds lad," said the 22-year-old McGuire. "A lot of people have talked about me switching codes or going to the [National Rugby League], but I see my immediate future here."

The apparent decision of Andy Farrell to switch to union has fed rumours of other leading league talents being targeted.

Leeds chief executive, Gary Hetherington, has denied that it is they who have tabled a massive offer for Williams, when his contract at Canterbury expires at the end of this year.

Wigan have also reiterated that they are not yet chasing Williams as a potential replacement for Farrell.

Warrington have suspended their teenage winger, Phil Berry, while the Rugby League carries out a drug-taking enquiry, and Leigh's Oliver Wilkes has been suspended for one match after being sent off for a high tackle against Huddersfield.
