Morrison handed captain's role at Wakefield
Wakefield have named the veteran Australian forward Glenn Morrison as their new captain. He succeeds the long-serving Jason Demetriou, who was not offered a new contract at the end of last season.
Wildcats coach John Kear said: "After much consideration the coaching staff decided to offer Glenn the captaincy as reward for a magnificent season in 2010 but also because of the impact that he has on the club off the field."
Morrison, who held the position of vice-captain at Bradford, arrived at Belle Vue initially on a 12-month contract but recently signed a new deal for the 2011 season. "It is an honour to captain such a great, traditional team," he said.
Demetriou has agreed to play for York next season, after talking to several other Championship clubs.
