Wigan have terminated Luke Davico's two-year contract on the eve of the new Super League season.

Wigan have terminated Luke Davico's two-year contract on the eve of the new Super League season.

The Australian prop tore a pectoral muscle in his only appearance for the club, a pre-season friendly against Salford, and has little chance of playing this year.

The new Leigh captain, Darren Fleary, will miss his side's Super League debut against his previous club, Huddersfield, on Saturday. The former Great Britain prop is still recovering from a knee operation, but Leigh still have 11 new players in their 20-man squad.

Huddersfield's major new signing, the Australian Test centre Michael De Vere, will also sit out the game because of knee surgery.
