Ben Ainslie, just as part of lining himself up for a fifth Olympic medal and a fourth consecutive gold, is in unstoppable form at the world championship regatta being staged for the Finn singlehanders in Falmouth.
On the third day he scored two straight wins to make it four wins and two third places in the first six races.
Second is former world champion and great rival Ed Wright, third another Briton, Andrew Mills, and absent, in Venice sailing for the Koreans in the America’s Cup World Series, is Giles Scott, who just over a week ago pipped Ainslie for the UK national championship.
It leaves the rival countries staring at an avalanche of opposition. Four more races are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday ahead of the medal decider for the top 10. Ainslie already has a 10-point margin over Wright.
