Brit Zennström pulls through for Royal Cup victory

Britain's Niklas Zennström's TP52 Rán came through to win the Royal Cup by just one point from the American team Quantum Racing, skippered by Ed Baird, in Palma de Mallorca.

Third was the Franco-German outfit, All4Oneand all three go on to contest next week a Copa del Rey brought forward to avoid a clash with the Olympic Games, in which sailing begins in two weeks on 29 July.

In Chicago, defending world champion Ian Williams and his Team GAC Pindar faces Johnie Berntsson of Sweden in the quarter finals of the Chicago regatta on the World Match Race Tour.

He is joined by Bjorn Hansen (SWE) v Sally Barkow (USA), Pierre-Antoine Morvan (FRA) v Jordan Reece (AUS), and Taylor Canfield (USA) v Phil Robertson (NZL).

In Brest, the Brittany Festival of Sail saw the final finisher in the Krys Ocean Race, Stève Ravussin’s Race for Water, join the MOD70 trimarans on Bastille Day.
