John Pink and Rick Peacock took over the lead of the high performance 49er fleet at the halfway mark of the world championships off Fremantle, five points ahead of the Australian favourites Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen, who are joint second with the French team of Stephane Christidis and Emmanuel Dyen with the improving young pairing of David Evans and Ed Powys just one extra point behind in fourth.

Reigning world champion Tom Slingsby has a seven-point lead over reigning British Olympic gold medallist Paul Goodison in the Laser lightweight singlehander but top windsurfer Nick Dempsey is currently out of contention in 20th place.

Penny Clark and Katrina Hughes are still ahead in fifth of Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark, already picked to represent Britain in Weymouth next year, seventh in the 470 dinghy.
