The Derby Storm owner, Mike Horton, has withdrawn last season's threat to quit basketball and announced the team will continue to play at his Thunderdome venue.

The Derby Storm owner, Mike Horton, has withdrawn last season's threat to quit basketball and announced the team will continue to play at his Thunderdome venue.

Horton threw the club's future into doubt in January when he put the venue up for sale, complaining of lack of support from the City Council and other commercial backers.

However, yesterday he said: "I am pleased to confirm that Storm will continue. The decision has been made as a result of restructuring the business and this has created a number of new commercial opportunities."

Manchester Giants, the League champions, recently secured their future with a new owner for the season beginning on 30 September, but Leicester City Riders are without a venue following the closure of the Granby Halls by their City Council, while doubts surround the future of Edinburgh Rocks after their parent company filed for liquidation last month.
