Two Pearn goals keep Britain's hopes alive

Mark Pearn scored twice and provided a goal for Ben Sharpe in Great Britain's 4-3 win over Belgium here yesterday that kept their Olympic dreams alive.

Britain took the lead in the 11th minute when Stuart Head glided on to Wyatt's shrewd pass to set up Pearn's first goal, and 14 minutes later Pearn scored again from a rebound. Belgium pulled a goal back through their captain, Marc Coudron, but Britain responded immediately with Pearn dashing down the flank to provide a pass for Sharpe's goal - all in the space of 16 seconds.

With four minutes left Joeri Beunen followed up at a penalty corner to reduce the lead, but Danny Hall made it 4-2 with a powerful shot before Gerald Dewamme dived in to score Belgium's third. Their hopes ended when both Gerald Dewamme and Thierry Renaer were sent off.
