THE BRITISH pair of Trish Johnson and Alison Nicholas stayed in contention with sub-70 third rounds after the McDonald's LPGA Championship at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware.
They both finished on 207, seven under par, three shots behind the leading trio of Americans: Juli Inkster, Christie Kerr and Nancy Scranton. They led by a shot from a group of four that included the defending champion Se Ri Pak and the top European, Sweden's Liselotte Neumann.
Britain's Laura Davies also could be ruled out. She finished four off the lead on six under after a 71 in which she missed a catalogue of birdie chances. "It was frustrating," she said.
