Golf: Michael Long wins New Zealand Open

Michael Long shot a four-under-par 67 to win the New Zealand Open yesterday. He became only the fifth New Zealander to win the event over the past 40 years when he finished four strokes ahead of the defending champion, Australia's Peter O'Malley.

Heavy rain washed out the third round of the JC Penney Classic in Tarpon Springs, Florida on Saturday, reducing the tournament to 54 holes for the first time in its 37-year history. Scotland's Bill Longmuir shot a three-under-par closing round of 67 to finish in a tie for second place at the Andersen Consulting Hong Kong Open, four strokes adrift of Rodrigo Cuello, of the Philippines.
