Golf: Montgomerie defies wind and rain

Colin Montgomerie is poised to win the Belgian Open at Knokke after shooting a five-under- par 66 in strong wind and heavy rain to hold a two-shot lead over Bernhard Langer going into today's final round. Sweden's Joakim Haeggman and Peter Hedblom are four behind the Scot with Nick Faldo and the Spaniard Ignacio Garrido one shot further back. 'Obviously Bernhard is the main threat to me, though Nick, five shots back, is not out of it,' Montgomerie said. Langer had a 68 for 205 to put pressure on Montgomerie and Faldo has not given up hope after shooting a 67 for 208 on a day when he cut his putter down by another inch and single-putted six successive holes from the 11th. Barry Lane, the leader for two days, shot a 76 for 211.
