Nick Price, the former world No 1, recorded his first tournament victory since December 1995 in the Data Dimension Pro-Am in Sun City yesterday.
The Zimbabwean completed the 72 holes in near-darkness with eight shots to spare over David Frost of South Africa, who claimed second place after Denmark's Thomas Bjorn had a bogey on the final hole.
Peter Lonard scored his first professional victory when he won the Australian Masters after the expected challenge from Tiger Woods failed to materialise. Lonard beat fellow Australian Peter O'Malley on the second hole of a play- off after the pair were tied on 276, 16 under par.
Woods, the favourite for the title, made no impression on the leaders with a level-par 73.
Tony Jacklin improved by five strokes on his opening 75 in the second round of the Senior GTE Classic in Lutz, Florida, but trails Bob Eastwood by eight shots.
