Laura Davies will have the chance to become the leading points scorer in Solheim Cup history when Europe begin their biennial dust-up with America in Chicago today.

The Englishwoman is one point behind the Swede Annika Sorenstam, who retired last year.

Europe, led by Alison Nicholas, are the underdogs. All of Beth Daniel's US team are in the world's top 50, including the 19-year-old Michelle Wie, who is making her cup debut. But Nicholas does have the Women's British Open winner, Catriona Matthew, in her ranks.
