Hamilton's late charge overhauls Love

Todd Hamilton birdied the final two holes to claim his first career PGA Tour victory by a single stroke in the Honda Classic here in Florida on Sunday. The 38-year-old rookie played the first 16 holes in four over par, but made clutch putts of eight and three feet to cap a two-over-par 74 to finish at 12-under 276.

It was the first win in 18 PGA Tour starts for Hamilton, who last season led the Japanese Tour with four titles and has also won in Thailand, Singapore and South Korea. On his way to victory, Hamilton caught and passed the fourth-ranked player in the world, Davis Love III.

"Until I got my Tour card, I always doubted something like this would happen," Hamilton said. "I don't think it's sunk in."

Seeking his 19th PGA Tour title, Love finished second with a 69, giving him an 11-under 277. Brian Bateman was third on 278.
