The two-times US Open champion Lee Janzen joined Bart Bryant at the top of the leader board at the end of a weather-hit first round of the Tampa Bay Championship at Palm Harbour yesterday. The last three holes of Janzen's six-under 65 were completed early in the morning, a thunderstorm having brought Thursday's play to an end.
Janzen birdied the par-four 16th to bring himself level with Bryant and ahead of a chasing pack a shot behind. The world No 3, Ernie Els, the tournament favourite after winning a first title on US soil in nearly four years at last week's Honda Classic, finished with a two-over-par 73.
