Rory McIlroy has described this summer has one he'll never forget after winning the US PGA Championship in the early hours of this morning, his second major in less than a month.

The world No 1 secured the Championship in near darkness at Valhalla to become the first UK player to win back-to-back majors.

His round of 68 on the final day saw him win the event by one shot ahead of Phil Mickelson, and two ahead of Rickie Fowler and Henrik Stenson.

"I've got a week off now and I'm going to enjoy it," McIlroy told BBC Sport after his win.

"I don't know if I can parade both the Claret Jug and the Wanamaker Trophy at Old Trafford on Saturday. I'll try!"

McIlroy opted against his usual shots of Jagermeister in the photos this time - maybe he's already had enough this summer.
