John Higgins clinched his third semi-final appearance in three weeks yesterday with a 5-2 victory that ended the Sweater Shop International Open hopes of Euan Henderson.

Higgins, beaten only twice in 22 matches since the turn of the year, today takes on the defending champion, John Parrott, who beat Alan McManus 5-1.

The pair's only previous meeting was in the 1993 Grand Prix in Reading, a match Parrott won 5-2. "I did not really go into that match believing I could win," Higgins said. "This time it will be different."

A disappointed McManus said: "I just played terribly. I didn't get going at all this morning. John is going to take some stopping. He's not playing brilliantly, but he looks very solid."
