Sarah Blanks celebrated her 20th birthday with a goal three minutes from time to give the Midlands the Under-21 territorial title in a 3-2 win against the defending champions, the East, at Rotherham yesterday, writes Brian Tatlock. Midlands wrested the early initiative from the East with Sarah McKay getting the equaliser before Natalie Hannah put the Midlands ahead. Melanie Clewlow equalised for the East before Blanks's decider.
