GORE COURT shrugged off a second-minute goal from Chichester's Neil Pendle and went on to win 5-1 to maintain their one-point advantage over City of Portsmouth at the top of the Nastro Azzurro Premier League. Richard Garrard scored a hat-trick for Court, while Clive Jenkins netted the other two, writes Bill Colwill.

Portsmouth also came from behind to win 3-1 against Mid Sussex. A John Knight penalty stroke in the 60th minute was the turning point, as Portsmouth scored three times in the last eight minutes through their captain, Peter Hayward, Tim Staynor and Paul Tapp.

Dan Bolgar strike for Cambridge University gave Ipswich, top of the Norwich Union East, a fright at Coldham's Common before goals from Matt Day and Andy Cook helped Ipswich maintain their one-point advantage over Colchester.
