Hockey: Reading displace Teddington at top
Reading beat the leaders Teddington 4-3 in a thrilling match at Chiswick and took over the Premier leadership after Cannock only drew 3-3 at Surbiton.
The day started badly for Reading when casual defending allowed Jason Laslett to give Teddington the lead in the seventh minute. Although Jon Wyatt equalised just before the interval, within two minutes Teddington were back in the lead following a James Wallis goal. Reading then took control with goals from Scott Ashdown and two from Pearn to lead 4-2. A tactical switch allowed Nick Conway to strike for Teddington and it was Reading on the defensive again at the end.
The few who remained after this match witnessed an entertaining relegation battle between two sides, Hounslow and Havant.Havant built up a three- goal lead, Hounslow pegged them back, and Havant surged ahead again with a spectacular goal from Chris Ambridge, his second of the game, giving them a 5-3 win. Sadly, with Surbiton drawing, it was not enough to stave off relegation.
Stuart Humphries collected two yellow cards for Canterbury and their goal in a 1-1 draw with East Grinstead. In Division One, Beeston, with goals from Mike Huckle and Ben Edwards, beat City of Portsmouth 2-1 to assure themselves of the title.
The pick of the fourth round games in the AEWHA Cup was Slough's 10-0 win against Liverpool.
