Staffordshire, the holders, will this morning meet Cheshire, last year's losing finalists, in the first semi-final of the County Championship at Sheffield after beating Shropshire 6-1, writes Brian Tatlock. Cheshire progressed by beating the Army 3-1. Nigel Stanhope scored as Lancashire recovered a two-goal deficit against Surrey but he was sent off for dissent when Surrey regained the lead. Surrey capitalised, winning 6-2 with Jon Molloy scoring a hat-trick. Guy Gisborne also scored three as Nottinghamshire beat Essex 6-1 to reach the last four.
