WITH THE Premier Division inactive, yesterday's action centred around the First Division of the National League.

Surbiton surrendered their unbeaten record when they went down 2-1 at home to Doncaster in a game of missed chances, the most glaring of which fell to Surbiton's Ben Hall.

Doncaster's new Australian signing, Duncan McCleary won a penalty corner after 42 minutes to provide the opening goal for Colin Edwards, but although Gregg Clarke equalised within a few minutes, Mark Wood got the winner in the 50th minute.

Stourport, with a comfortable 4-1 win against Hampstead & Westminster, moved two points clear at the top from Barford Tigers, who won 5-2 at Loughborough against Students. The first of Dharminder Singh's brace for Tigers took him into the exclusive 100 Club.

In Saturday's Women's National League, a 3-0 win over Fyffes Leicester put Ipswich three points clear at the top of the Premier from Slough. In the First, Canterbury trounced Sunderland Ashbrooke 7-0.

Woking and Ealing remain at the top of the Second Division: Sarah Marsh scored Ealing's solitary goal at Sherwood, while Woking beat newcomers Hampton in Arden 4-0.
