The apprentices Gary Milligan and Fergus Sweeney were taken to hospital after a horrifying incident in the final race at York yesterday.
Milligan was fired to the ground when his mount, Claireswan, fell after appearing to clip the heels of Voices In The Sky in the apprentices' handicap. Master Hyde was brought down by Claireswan, throwing Sweeney out of the saddle.
A hospital spokeswoman reported: "Both jockeys are sitting up and talking. Fergus Sweeney may be discharged tonight but Gary Milligan may have to stay in overnight. There are no serious injuries."
The stewards decided that Voices In The Sky's rider, Royston Ffrench, was guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift across causing interference to Claireswan. He was banned for two days.
