Britain have lost another medal hope for next week's European Indoor Championships in Stockholm. Mark Hylton decided today not to risk a groin strain and withdrew from the 400 metres. The 19-year-old European junior champion follows fellow 400m runner Melanie Neef and hurdler Tony Jarrett out of the team named on Wednesday. John Regis and the high jumper Steve Smith turned down places, while the championships never figured in the plans of Linford Christie, Colin Jackson or Sally Gunnell. Kent Ulyatt takes over from Hylton in the squad.
