Ice Skating: Russians in title waltz

(First Edition)

RUSSIANS continued to dominate the creative section of the European Championships in Helsinki yesterday as Maia Usova and Alexander Zhulin moved closer to the ice dance title.

The leading positions were unchanged after the Viennese Waltz original dance, with another Russian pair, Oksana Gritschuk and Evgeny Platov, second ahead of the Finns, Susanna Rahkamo and Petri Kokko. A third Russian coupling, Anjelika Krylova and Vladimir Fedorov, moved up to fourth after the Italian, Pasquale Camerlengo, fell during his dance with Stefania Calgari. Medals will be decided by today's free skating.
