After putting England A within sight of victory in Bombay yesterday, Ian Salisbury admitted that he has Shane Warne and Anil Kumble to thank for inspiring him towards the greater standards needed for Test success.

England's leg-spinner has struggled to make an impact in his six Tests to date, with his caps won in three batches of two in each of the last three years. "Warne and Kumble have set a benchmark for all leg-spinners and I am aiming to emulate them," he said.

Figures of 6 for 48, with a spell of four wickets in 18 balls, left the India Youth XI with no answer to his turn, bounce and control from over and around the wicket, the latter a new development.

Bowled out for 199, the Indian youngsters go into today's final day at 21 for 1, chasing 289 to win a match dominated by spin. England A made 204 in their second innings with some purposeful batting designed initially to set up an overnight declaration.
