Italian Football: Cautious Capello
Despite their eighth successive Serie A away victory yesterday, Milan are not taking another championship success for granted. After watching his side extend their unbeaten run to 51 games with a
1-0 win at Brescia, Fabio Capello, the Milan coach, said: 'Of course it would be dramatic to lose after holding an eight-point lead, but Internazionale are second and I always thought they would be dangerous rivals.'
Daniele Massaro struck Milan's winner in the 22nd minute, but they did not impress against a Brescia side reduced to 10 men after just six minutes, thanks to a red card for Florin Raducioiu. The champions' city rivals, Inter, maintained their dogged but distant challenge by coming from behind to beat Parma 2-1, with Ruben Sosa and Nicola Berti scoring second-half goals to cancel out Alessandro Melli's opener.
Juventus secured their first Serie A win since 22 November thanks to Roberto Baggio, whose two goals were too much for Pescara in Turin. Juventus are now level on points with Lazio and Atlanta, who both lost.
Lazio were the latest victims of rejuvenated Napoli, who gained a three-goal lead through Massimo Crippa, Daniel Fonseca and Careca before Giuseppe Signori's 17th goal of the season gave Lazio some consolation. Atalanta went down
1-0 in Genoa, where Tomas Skuhravy scored 16 minutes from time.
