Italian Football: Gascoigne returns with a murmur
PAUL GASCOIGNE returned to action for Lazio yesterday, giving a patchy performance before being replaced seven minutes from time in the Romans' 1-0 Italian League win over Piacenza. Giuseppe Signori settled a stormy match with a last-minute penalty.
Lazio had their central defenders, Luca Luzardi and Roberto Cravero, sent off while the Piacenza sweeper, Settimio Lucci, and their coach, Luigi Cagni, were also both shown the red card.
Zvonimir Boban struck a late equaliser against Foggia to keep Milan on top and maintain an unbeaten away record stretching back well over two years. The Russian striker Igor Kolyvanov put Foggia ahead in the 61st minute - the first goal the champions have conceded all season.
Juventus, who meet Milan next Sunday, beat Atalanta 2-1 thanks to a Roberto Baggio penalty and a goal from Andreas Moller to move into joint second place with Parma.
Parma were held 0-0 at promoted Cremonese after having Faustino Asprilla sent off for a foul in the first half.
