Johan Museeuw, of Belgium, made almost certain of the World Cup title yesterday when he won the 235km Zurich Championship by a few centimetres, taking him to 199 points, well-ahead of the second placed Frenchman, Laurent Jalabert, with two races remaining.

Britain's Caroline Alexander yesterday completed a 90-second victory in the women's race of the European mountain bike championships at Spindleruv Mlyn, Czech Republic.
