The former world champion, Katrin Krabbe, began her fight against a doping ban in the German civil courts yesterday. Krabbe, who has been banned, along with team-mates Grit Breuer and Manuela Derr, until August after admitting taking the banned drug, clenbuterol, following positive tests in July 1992, is suing the German and international athletic federations for compensation.
