Kevin Curran's first Sunday League century helped lowly Northamptonshire to a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Kent at Canterbury yesterday.

The visitors reached their target of 236 with 3.1 overs remaining of yesterday's clash which dealt a severe blow to the home county's AXA Equity and Law League title hopes.

Curran's century came off 90 balls. His innings of 119 not out off 101 balls included 15 fours and two sixes. Northants easily passed their target after Kent's Mark Ealham had hit 89 not out in a home total of 235.

Alex Morris, the England Under-19 all-rounder, took five wickets for 32 in 7.5 overs as Yorkshire inflicted the Young Australians' first defeat of their tour at Headingley yesterday.

Set to make 225 to win, the tourists slumped to 59 for 4 and were all out for 156.
