Sir: Re "England felled by De Beer drop kicks". Chris Hewett may have been right in highlighting the pivotal role which God played in ensuring the defeat of England's finest against South Africa. But if God really does have an axe to grind who could blame Him? For a team which specialises in dull, uninspiring rugby founded on the power of the boot, His intercession in this manner would indeed be divine retribution. Yet surely, and this may be considered blasphemous to the RFU, the fact that the South Africans managed to score two tries without reply had something to do with England's ignominious exit.
