Sir: I am aware that baseball articles have a small role in your sports section but to have two (Fernando Valenzuela and Oakland Athletics, Independent, 27 July) about American League teams with mediocre statistics is too much. The San Francisco Giants are having a fantastic season. They are 81 2 games ahead in their division and are proving themselves contenders for the World Series in both offense and defense. Why spend precious type on Oakland.
