Sir: Desmond Lynam's observation 'the lunacy of the morons at Maine Road is beyond belief' brought forth the usual stream of condemnation, platitudes and causes from the other BBC commentators and summarisers. Yet they have continued to miss or perhaps turn a 'Nelson Eye' to one of the principal reasons for the bad crowd behaviour which has blighted our national game since the 1970s. When will the FA, club management and the players union put a stop on players rushing towards their supporters for adulation after scoring a goal? Anyone with a modicum of sense must be aware of the incitement it causes with both sets of fans.
Yours faithfully,
PETER HUGHES
