Letter: The hype market

Sir: Am I alone in feeling ashamed to admit that I used to enjoy boxing on the box? The days of Henry Cooper, Billy Walker, Joe Bugner and amateur contests. Now, though, the interminable hype, infantile interviews with inarticulate protagonists, ludicrous posing, long-legged blondes with silly flags, ghastly announcements, and the opinions of everyone and his mother have turned the noble sport into an ignoble pantomime which I no longer wish to watch or listen to.

Yours sincerely,

JACK F MUIRHEAD
