Eight athletes have been named as being among the 100 most influential people in the world according to American magazine Time.
The 93-year-old publication, one of the biggest and most recognisable magazines in the world, released its annual list this week.
Dominated by politicians, artists, actors and activists, the list features a variety of influential people.
Reigning Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton will be the most recognisable name for British sports fans on a list that includes the likes of American president Barack Obama and Pope Francis.
However, among the eight athletes are some names slightly less known, especially to British audiences, while the omission of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi is extremely perplexing.
