Marcelle's magic moment

Barnsley fans saluted their new hero yesterday: Clint Marcelle, a striker who plays international football for Trinidad and Tobago and who arrived on a free transfer from the Portuguese club, Felgueiras, in the summer.

Marcelle scored his second goal for his new club in the 78th minute: an exquisite chip which sealed Barnsley's win over their Yorkshire rivals. "He's relishing playing over here and hopefully there's more to come from him," Danny Wilson, the Oakwell manager, said.

Barnsley went ahead in the 28th minute when Paul Wilkinson scored from a corner, but Huddersfield levelled with a controversial goal a minute before half-time. The referee, Gurnam Singh, ruled that Andy Morrison had got his head to Tom Cowan's long throw, but furious Barnsley players claimed the ball had gone straight in from the hands of the left-back.

Barnsley regained the lead with a 73rd-minute shot from Neil Redfearn, before Marcelle produced his moment of magic.
