Mark O'Meara scores 62 to tie course record in Greater Greensboro Classic

North Carolina's Mark O'Meara fired a 10-under-par 62 to tie the course record and earn a share of the third-round lead at the Greater Greensboro Classic. O'Meara reeled off 10 birdies in good conditions at the Forest Oaks course to record the best score of the day by four strokes. It also equalled his lowest round on the PGA Tour.

Britain's Laura Davies produced a birdie on the first play-off hole to beat Japan's Suzuko Maeda and take the Satake Japan Classic in Hiroshima yesterday. Maeda forced the play-off by shooting a final-round four-under- par 68, including an eagle on the par-five ninth hole. Davies' victory, her fourth on the Japan LPGA tour, earned the Coventry-born player pounds 28,000 in prize money.

Scotland's Pam Wright added a 70 to her opening 71 to lie joint-second after two rounds of the Sara Lee Classic in Nashville, Tennessee. Caroline Pierce is a shot clear of the pack with her four-under-par total of 140. Karen Davies of Wales is on 142.

Britain's Tony Jacklin added a second-round 76 to his opening 72 at the Las Vegas Senior Classic to lie 13 strokes behind joint-leaders Bob Charles and Tommy Aaron, who have nine-under-par totals of 135.
