More than 40 Malaysian players have been arrested in the past two months on suspicion of match-fixing, football officials said in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

They said the arrests were only the tip of the iceberg and that police had a "longer list" of players to investigate.

Twenty players were taken into custody between October and this month, while another 21 have been detained in the past five days in connection with match-fixing in Malaysia league and cup matches.

Among the players arrested so far is Uzbekistan's Moustava Belialov, the only foreigner to be involved in the affair.
